Marsha Bechtold, President, of the Assistance League of Bend shared the work they do for the kids of Deschutes county. Even though their name says "Bend" their focus is the entire county.
We learned that the Assitance League started as a result of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. A group of individuals from southern California brought a caravan of essentials to San Francisco to help after the quake and the Assistance League was born.
Now every Assistance League provides resources to "Dress Kids" in need. They do a Fall and a Spring "Dress" event with the help of many volunteers and donations.
The Assistance League also does a lot of other activities to help improve the lives of those that need some assistance in Deschutes county.
